Until I started testing golf balls on a regular basis, I was unaware of how much a golf ball could impact your game. The ball you play with doesn’t just impact distance – you’ll find the biggest impact in the short game.
For senior women, this selection can be even more critical. As we age, factors like reduced swing speed, changes in flexibility, and a desire for less strain on the joints become prominent concerns in the game. Addressing these is key to maintaining enjoyment and performance on the green. I’ll show you 7 of the best golf balls for senior women and help guide you into choosing which could be the perfect option for your golf game.

What Makes Certain Golf Balls Better for Senior Women?
I’m often asked if the exact ball you play with really matters.
The short answer is “yes”, and the good news is you don’t always need to spend more money to get a better golf ball for your game. I won’t tell you that the $50 a dozen golf balls are all the perfect choice because they’re not!
Here are the things all senior women should be looking for when choosing a golf ball.
Lower compression
A golf ball with low compression makes it easier for slower-swing speed players to get more distance. If you think you have lost a few yards as you have gotten older, low compression is the way to go.
Playing with a golf ball that doesn’t match your swing speed can result in a distance loss of 10 or more yards.
Softer feel
Most lower-compression golf balls have a soft feel, which is a good thing. The downside is that most lower compression golf balls have low spin. You’ill need to use this softer feel to get the greenside performance you are looking for.
Plan to land some shots short of the pin and have the ball roll out a bit. On full swing approach shots, you should get more spin and the ability to stop the ball.
Visibility
Visibility is important not just when trying to find your shot, but also when lining up to hit. A bright color can increase focus and encourage your eyes to stay engaged throughout the entire swing.
I do prefer matte finish golf balls when looking at the different color options out there. There tends to be less glare with a matte finish.
Alignment Aids
Alignment aids can help for lining up your putt on the green, but they also help on tee shots. Take advantage of that line and ensure you line your clubface up with it.
Callaway offers the Triple Track alignment aid on a lot of their golf balls, and it’s a great thing for senior women that struggle with alignment. Hitting a great shot in the wrong direction because of poor alignment feels like such a waste of a swing!
7 Best Golf Balls for Senior Women
1. Titleist TruFeel – Best Overall
This ball is known for its ultra soft feel, superior distance, and excellent greenside control.
Pros
- Long distance off the tee
- Lots of greenside control
- Very responsive feel
Cons
- A softer feel off the face of the club may not be preferred
Price Range: $$
I love Titleist golf balls. Not because Titleist has anything to say about it, but more because I just play well with some Titleist golf balls. The Titleist TruFeel is the best overall for senior women.
You won’t be disappointed by the feel of this ball, and the distance is almost surprising. When I put the TruFeel in play, it’s truly one of the longest golf balls I play with. Around the greens, it’s soft and responsive, not necessarily high spin.
The lower compression of the TruFeel, combined with the overall quality and longevity, make this a perfect senior golf ball for women. If you’re tired of reading guides that recommend you order a pink lady golf ball, trust me and see what the TruFeel does for your game. I’m sure you will see some improvements.
2. Wilson Fifty Elite – Best Value
Pros
- Lower compression of 50
- Soft feel around the greens
- Large rubber core for more distance
- Fair pricing
Cons
- Not much greenside spin
Price Range: $
Most senior women need lower-compression golf balls. Luckily, these lower compression golf balls are often more fairly priced than high compression. I think all of the golf balls on my list are a good value, but these Wilson Fifty Elite are the best overall value.
Wilson used an advanced rubber core to increase total distance without sacrificing greenside spin. The 50 compression on the Wilson Fifty Elite tends to be a good option for the slower swing speed woman golfer.
I won’t tell you that these are very high spinning golf balls, but they are soft enough to feel as though you can control the golf ball around the green. If you haven’t experimented with different golf balls for your game and want to try something different, the Wilson Fifty Elite is a great option to consider.
3. Srixon Soft Feel – Best for Visibility
One of the more affordable, quality balls on the market. With a soft center that gradually transitions to a firm outer edge, the FastLayer Core offers incredible softness and great distance off the tee. The dimple pattern reduces drag at launch and increases lift during descent.
Pros
- Bright yellow color for visibility
- 338 Speed dimple pattern for more penetrating ball flight
- Good greenside spin for a lower-priced golf ball
Cons
- It can feel a little too soft on the putting green
Price Range: $$
The Srixon Soft Feel is the best golf ball for senior ladies that are looking for a highly visible golf ball. The Soft Feel has a soft and thin cover that makes it long off the tee and responsive around the greens.
When I try lower-compression golf balls, I often have difficulty getting any kind of spin around the greens. However, with the Soft Feel, I was able to stop approach shots from about 100 yards and in with relative ease.
Shorter shots will roll out a little on you, but you just have to be prepared for that with a two piece golf ball. I do think this is a straighter flying golf ball – the 338 Speed dimple pattern does improve overall stability in the air.
4. Callaway Supersoft MAX – Best for Slower Swing Speeds
The Tri-Blend Ionomer Cover is specifically built to increase ball speed. This cover material also creates an impressive combination of high launch and low spin in your longer clubs.
Pros
- Very fair pricing
- Low compression
- Long distance
Cons
- A little more expensive than standard Supersoft golf balls
Price Range: $$
The Callaway Supersoft Max golf balls are a little larger looking than a standard golf ball. I love this option for the senior woman that is worried about visibility and consistency in contact. The Supersoft MAX is still a completely legal 2 piece ball from Callaway.
Compression here is going to be low to encourage some extra distance for the slower swing speed players. You’ll immediately notice that the Triblend Ionomer cover is very soft. When it comes to the greenside feel, the Supersoft MAX is soft and responsive.
The only problem I have with these golf balls is that they are oversold as the best low-priced golf ball in the game. The Supersoft is good, but there are other great choices out there. I personally find the TruFeel to be a better all-around golf ball for senior women.
5. Callaway Chrome Soft Triple Track – Best for Greenside Performance
Precision Technology golf balls offer the tightest dispersion, consistent speed, and optimal performance. Hyper Elastic SoftFast Core ensures tour-level speed, spin, and control. Tour Aero design ensures a consistent ball flight.
Pros
- Impressive greenside spin
- Low spin off the tee
- Great feel on the putting green
Cons
- Higher compression golf ball difficult to compress
- Expensive pricing
Price Range: $$$
The Callaway Chrome Soft Triple Track is the best golf ball for greenside performance for senior women. If you feel like you have a hard time stopping a golf ball on the greens, or your short game needs a little help, the Chrome Soft Triple Track is a great choice.
The higher compression Chrome Soft does make this a little trickier for the slow swing speed woman. You won’t get your maximum distance out of this golf ball. However, for those shorter shots to stop in place and near the hole, the Chrome Soft does a great job.
In addition, there is a Triple Track alignment pattern that helps with alignment on the putting greens. Callaway invested in these golf balls, and you can tell when you put them into play. If cost is not a concern, the Chrome Soft Triple Track won’t disappoint.
6. Maxfli SoftFli Matte – Best for Soft Feel
Feature ultra-low compression for an exceptionally soft feel, a reformulated core for speed and low spin rate, a 332 dimple pattern for consistent flight, and a soft ionomer blend cover for excellent greenside spin and control.
Pros
- 35 compression rating
- Faster ball speed
- Low spin off the tee
Cons
- Soft Ionomer cover can be cut after a few rounds
- Even the matte coloring is a little bright compared to other models
Price Range: $$
I’ve tested some Maxfli golf balls recently and have been impressed with the quality they offer for the price. These Maxfli SoftFli Matte golf balls are some of the best in the game for soft feel.
If you find that a softer feel gives you more confidence and performance around the greens, the SoftFli is a great option to consider.
These do come in a few different color options, so you have choices when it comes to visibility.
One thing I think worth mentioning is that soft feel and spin are two different things. Soft feel allows you a bit more control around the greens, but the ball won’t necessarily spin back. My only real complaint with the SoftFli is that it doesn’t seem to hold up as well with the soft ionomer cover.
You can get a few rounds in, but it eventually starts to scratch and scuff.
7. Vice Pro Soft Golf Balls – Honorable Mention
3 piece cast urethane cover. Low compression for extra-soft and responsive feel.
Pros
- Fair pricing considering the technology
- 3 Piece golf ball
- Lower compression
Cons
- The cover is not all that durable
Price Range: $$
If you noticed, many of the golf balls I recommend for senior women golfers were two-piece golf balls that have tremendous distance capability.
The Vice Pro Soft is a 3 piece golf ball, so it does have a slightly higher compression, but the cover here is a cast urethane which is much more responsive around the greens.
The Vice Pro Soft almost feels a little sticky at impact, making it an easier golf ball to control around the green. In addition, there are a few different matte finish options you can choose from to increase visibility.
I think the Vice Pro Soft makes a great choice for a lower handicap senior woman that is looking for a mix of performance and value. If you aren’t ready to go to a two piece distance ball, the Vice Pro Soft is a really good option.
Quick Recap
Hopefully, these golf ball choices for senior women have given you some ideas as to which might be the best fit for your game.
I personally really like playing with the Titleist TruFeels, and even though I’m not a senior, I do put this ball in play from time to time. When courses are playing wet and long, and I need a little extra distance, TruFeel is a great option to consider.
